Emily Markowitz, LMSW, LCSW has over fifteen years of experience as a psychotherapist and counselor. During the course of her career, she has worked in a multitude of settings with children, adolescents, adults and couples with varying conditions and diagnoses. Emily is currently in private practice and works with adult individuals and couples. Prior to this, she provided psychotherapy counseling at the prestigious Maple Counseling Center in Beverly Hills, CA.
Having provided counseling and administering emergency assistance while working at the Actors Fund of America and Society of Singers, Emily gained extensive experience working with entertainment professionals and continues to take particular interest in the unique issues presented to individuals in these fields. She also specializes in working with other career-driven individuals in a variety of industries including consumer products, legal and media.
While at Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles, Emily provided counseling and care management, in addition to creating and leading orientations for caregivers in the Senior Outreach Services Program. She has also has provided crisis counseling for the survivors of both 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina.
Emily received her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Scripps College in Claremont, California then went on to complete a Masters of Science in Social Work from Columbia University in New York City. Always eager to continue her education, Emily then received a certificate in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the New Center for Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles, California.
Emily holds licenses in both New York and California and is a member of The American Psychological Association and The National Association of Social Workers.
